Marriott

For Marriott Indore, I led the creative direction across packaging, menus, and F&B collaterals, shaping every touchpoint with intent. Drawing inspiration from Indore’s architectural legacy and cultural nuances, I translated local heritage into a contemporary visual language that still felt unmistakably Marriott.

Packaging Design

Know More

Packaging that carries a city, not just a dessert.

Faced with the challenge of scaling its bakery and takeaway experience, Marriott Indore needed a packaging system that felt premium without falling into the visual clichés of a typical cake box.

During my early conversations with the Chef and the General Manager, one thing was made clear, the packaging had to carry Indore’s soul while still living up to Marriott’s sense of quiet royalty.

Problem

I led the concept and design direction by starting at the source, the city itself. Rather than choosing a single inspiration, I merged three cultural narratives into one cohesive visual system:

Indore’s historic monuments, the iconic Sarafa street food culture, and the city’s geographic identity.

Solution

These references became the foundation for a bespoke illustration style that felt elegant, minimal, and rooted, never loud or touristy.

Using hand-drawn architectural sketches inspired by landmarks like Krishnapura Chhatri, combined with travel-inspired contour lines and topographical textures, the packaging evolved into a collectible object rather than a disposable box. A restrained colour palette, subtle metallic accents, and clean typography ensured the design stayed aligned with Marriott’s global sophistication while adding a distinct local character.

Concept

Executed across bakery bags, takeaway boxes, jars, labels, and in-room collateral, the system allowed flexibility across formats without losing its identity. Every surface was intentional, designed to spark curiosity, invite conversation, and elevate the guest’s takeaway experience beyond the product inside.

Conclusion

Outcome and impact:

- A distinctive non-cake-box packaging system / brand differentiation
- Stronger local storytelling within a global luxury framework
- Improved guest recall and takeaway memorability
- A scalable visual language usable across future F&B extensions
- Packaging that felt royal, relatable, and unmistakably Indore
